blasphemy

I dislike blasphemy on purely rational grounds. If there is no God, blasphemy is stupid and unnecessary; if there is, then it's damned dangerous.
someone say this, i cannot remember who

woah, seems like you are really on holiday ya. i can't seemed to catch up with ya posts..

mmmm.. i think blasphemy arises when there is an insistence that there is a God so perfect which the other party do not agree. for me, i hate it when someone so strong in their religion harass me to believe in their god, i'll start a blasphemy. LOL.

" i dun wana start any blasphemous rumours but i think that god has a sick sense of humour and when i die, i expect to find him laughing..." sounds familiar to you? i always love this song!

yes, god has a very sick sense of humour. just take platypus, flatulance, giraffes, Barbara Streisand for example. He (if he is real) has to have a sense of humour.

  Dear God,
hope you got the letter, and...
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image, see
them starving on their feet 'cause they don't get
enough to eat from God, I can't believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but... I feel that I should be heard
loud and clear. We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image, see them fighting
in the street 'cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue? Did you make
mankind after we made you? And the devil too!

Dear God, don't know if you noticed, but... your name is on
a lot of quotes in this book, and us crazy humans wrote it, you
should take a look, and all the people that you made in your
image still believing that junk is true. Well I know it ain't, and
so do you, dear God, I can't believe in I don't believe in

I won't believe in heaven and hell. No saints, no sinners, no
devil as well. No pearly gates, no thorny crown. You're always
letting us humans down. The wars you bring, the babes you
drown. Those lost at sea and never found, and it's the same the
whole world 'round. The hurt I see helps to compound that
Father, Son and Holy Ghost is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive that my heart's here upon
my sleeve. If there's one thing I don't believe in

it's you... Dear God.

god is the idea of perfection in everybody's eyes, otherwise there would be one god. think about it for a minute, he can make ppl instantly feel better about themselves hence that whole trip on miracles; he points ppl in the right direction; he wrote the highest selling novel of all time-bible; he made the world-apparently; and he can't die. if i could do that shit ppl would call me a god as well.

as for my opinion, fuck him, fuck the backstabbing motherfucking cunt. when i die, i'll piss on the pearly gates stab St Peter and and bludgen god to death with my shoe. if god really exists he had better come back and fix my life up coz right now it looks like shit and it doesn't seem to be getting NE better, if we are all his children y doesn't he lay down some discipline? shitty fucken parent, father my arse. god, if u r reading this, take your almighty dick out of marylin monroe's arse and come perform a few miracles on earth-the one you created, remember?

too many people have spent their lives trying to find god and all they get is a penny that someone dropped before they put it in the collection plate.

It's good to ask questions. It's good to doubt. It's good to shake your fist in the air and scream WHY?!.
Anyone comes to me and says I KNOW God exists I'll gladly disagree with them. If any one comes to me and says I KNOW there is no God I'll gladly disagree with them. Both positions are untenable. I've come to the conclusion that life is one long search without crossing the finish line, and I'm learning to live with that.

Dan, totally outside of the God issue I think you've got other issues you need to be dealing with on a couch with a professional. And I'll save you the trouble of flaming me back....
"Addison, go fuck yourself!"

>Yes, exactly. No one can prove beyound doubt that god does exist, but no one can prove beyond a doubt that he does no exist either. They are both just stating what they want to believe, to make themselves feel better.

i just dislike the idea of god b'coz there are so many PPL hanging off a book that has no real, physical proof that NE of it happened. i don't really care if people live their lives in devotion to one person but sum1 who makes promises to come back, heal these sick dudes and never follows thru.

i know i have problems, and you know i do. sorry if i offended NE of u by my last thread

I'm really sorry to hear that. Any advice I'd give would end up sounding trite and useless I'm sure, except I hope whatever it is passes real quick.

We cant blame god, as god is a creation of man. We cannot blame mankind as we are part of it. If you choose to blame god you are in a roundabout way blaming yourself. Dont choose the easy way out. The easy way is beleving in him, - either for support and security, or to find someone to blame for your life. Dont take the easy way, take responsibility.

  there is a god...

proof? gravity.

gravity is a nifty invention of his to 1) show us that if we throw stones at him, it will come back and hit us instead...

2) keep the disgrunted masses from going to heaven to kick his ass...

u never heard of anyone wanting to go down to hell to kick the devil's behind don't ya?

Well, speaking from a strictly christian point of view, I think I can cover most of what's been brought up on this thread. First off, blasphemey is, interestingly enough, the only unforgivably sin. That's right. If you're a christian who denounces God completely, you burn, along with anyone who doesn't recieve Jesus. Anywho, bible is, in fact, quite factual. If people would take the time to watch a special about it, or talk to some specialists on the subject, you'll see there's a lot of truth to it. But most importantly, to Dan632, you've got it all wrong. God wants us all to lead happy lives, but he won't do anything about it because he wants us to do things for ourselves, not mooch off of him for our lives. That's not why we were created. And more to the point, I think it's a matter of faith. If you don't really believe in him anyway, don't expect a damn thing from him. Sometimes, people need to take responsibilty for their own stupid mistakes. I don't know what kind of messed up things are going on in your life, but i'll be praying for you.

No offence, but it worries and disturbes me that people say stuff like you just did and actually believe it, it really does.

*he's irritating me
LOL! Christophe you crack me up!

Trogdog666, I'd ask you to pray for us all, but I do believe most of us have already committed the unforgivable sin, so I guess we're beyond help. I think there's still some saveable sinners at other sites though so if you hurry it may not be too late for them. God Bless!

okay, I'll play nice.
Shall we start a "if you die tomorrow Addi, are you certain you're going to heaven" discussion?

I know I seem to be making light of something near and dear to you, Trog, but I just can't help myself.
I have all sorts of doubts about my abilities in certain areas, and I am well aware of all my weaknesses and shortcomings. However, I have been where you are at now. I know your every thought and strategy to win another soul over to Christ. You have encountered a well armed adversary. I grew up in a fundamentalist house, attended a fundamentalist college and went to years of fundamentalist bible studies after that. Then one fateful day I was walking around judging others and God put me squarely under his sights and let an anvil loose. It hit me sqarely on the noogin and knocked some sense into me. Suddenly I didn't have all the answers. Suddenly I wasn't believing all the spoon fed crap that others were feeding me. Suddenly the world wasn't in black and white, but in glorious shades of gray.
Maybe there is a God. Maybe there isn't, but one thing I can say with certainty is that He isn't the God you think he is.
So come on if you want to. I've girded my loins and am ready for thou : )

oh one of those that is here to 'save' us.

save one of us and break into a dance?
make u look like a better christian?

don;t force your doctrines on us, fool.
and when we don't agree with you, u turn around and call us cynical?

such hypocrisy.

u feel sad for us? do we look sad to u?

bible toting, verse sprouting happy clapper.

i'm not saying that the entire movement is bad.

i was there before (church going, cell group worship, bible study and the works), but now i do not suscribe to the doctrines of the organised churches. go ahead, call me backslider. that's what u guys call my type don't you? let me tell u this, my faith is stronger now than my church days.
Now are you going to tell me otherwise? Are you going to JUDGE us? Based on WHAT?

Happiness and our reality is based on our perception and how we decide to lead our lives. Not based on your personal agenda to save us from your hell.
