What are some of your favorite sad songs? :) I actually have a lot...I couldn't begin to remember them all right now. But here are ones I can remember. And keep in mind the songs itself might not even really be sad, but may conjure up personal things that make for sadness.

Chris Isaak-Wicked Game
Eric Clapton- Tears In Heaven
Eric Clapton- Wonderful Tonight
Blue Oyster Cult- Romeo and Juliet
Godspeed You! Black Emperor- Dead Flag Blues.
Kansas- Dust In The Wind
Tomcraft- Prosac THC mix
Apoptgyma Berzerk- Fade To Black
Dead Can Dance- The Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrove
Dead Can Dance- Spirit
Dead Can Dance- Host of the Seraphim
Vas- The Reaper and the Flowers
Pearl Jam- Black
Moby- When Its Cold I'd Like To Die
Fear Factory- Resurrection
Tool-Pushit
Hank Williams- Theirs A Tear In My Beer
The Highwaymen- Highwayman
Pearl Jam- Once
Pearl Jam- Alive
Beethoven- Moonlight Sonata
Carl Orff- Carmina Burana

All I can think of right now. Many more though. Do share.

  Interesting choices, meshie.

A lot of them I just don't know at all (forgive me...I grew up in Nebraska)
I'd agree with Wicked Games, although on one level after seeing the video I also find it sexy.
I'll agree with Dust in the wind and Moonlight Sonata.

Whenever I listen to Carmina Burana though I find it uplifting, and the Oh Fortuna section just makes me want to pick a fight (with a smaller guy). : )

  Mad World--Gary Jules

all around me are familiar faces
worn out places, worn out faces
bright and early for the daily races
going nowhere, going nowhere

their tears are filling up their glasses
no expression, no expression
hide my head i wanna drown my sorrow
no tomorrow, no tomorrow

and i find it kind of funny, i find it kind of sad
the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had
i find it hard to tell you, i find it hard to take
when people run in circles its a very, very
mad world, mad world

children waiting for the day they feel good
happy birthday, happy birthday
and i feel the way that every child should
sit and listen, sit and listen

went to school and i was very nervous
no one knew me, no one knew me
hello teacher tell me, what's my lesson?
look right through me, look right through me

and i find it kind of funny, i find it kind of sad
the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had
i find it hard to tell you, i find it hard to take
when people run in circles its a very, very
mad world, mad world, enlarging your world
mad world

Before You Leave - Mary Gauthier

http://popup.lala.com/popup/432627060738786369

Tell me that you love me one more time
Before you leave, before you leave
Wrap your arms around me hold me tight
Before you leave, before you leave

Whisper to me softly in my ear
Before you leave, before you leave
Tell me that you'll miss me when you're not here
Before you leave, before you leave

When you get to where you're going
Would you call and let me know you're ok?
'Cause I'll be thinking 'bout you
Won’t you ease my mind and let me know you're safe?

The weathers turning, don't forget your coat
Before you leave, before you leave
Listen close, there's something you should know
Before you leave, before you leave

The darkness that shadowed you was mine
It was never yours at all
The light behind your eyes that used to shine
Gets brighter as you walk away

Tell me that you love me one more time
Before you leave, before you leave
Wrap your arms around me hold me tight
Before you leave, before you leave

post Christmas blues...a good time to revisit this thread

Puck...anything by Damian Rice is sad. Love Volcano and Blower's Daughter, but I have to be in the mood to get all verklempt to listen to him.

Waz...Mad World is a great entry to this topic, and I play the Gary Jules version myself, however the nitpicky side of me always wants to give credit where credit is due and it was written long before the Donnie Darko days by "Tears For Fears". I sometimes get the feeling the young generation thinks he wrote that song.

Hif....You can't go wrong with Bread. (90% of David Gates songs were kind sad).

My entry to this topic:

"I Can't Make You Love Me" Bonnie Raitt

Lucky for me, I'm getting used to focusing on the job during this time of year, so I completely ignore the holidays and give gifts when I get around to it.
