  • Misfiring neurons.

    In thought we are all equal;
Except for Jonas who is forced to live
In his own world of problems. He is forced to go it alone.
Ridiculed, taunted, and refused at seemingly every turn.
All people follow the same process of
    Thought, but express it differently,
    Express it individually.
It's all chemistry, faithful frightful chemistry.
That's poor Jonas's problem; though, he might never believe.
They always told him he was lazy.
    How can he change everything?
All their words of abuse consuming his being.
    "Oh, just don't talk."
    "Are you stupid or something?"
Jonas is just a man and the world is against him.
The scorn of their words burned into flesh and etched in his mind.
    Jonas is left to ponder.
He did not ask to be different.
Maybe you've seen him, their words still haunting him.
Dragging him in the same manner that Jacob Marley was chained.
So the next time you see him,
Just see what the power of opinion and science can do to a man.
For I have seen him, last when I was at the diner.
A broken soul nursing a cup of coffee; nothing better to do.
How is he to know it is how his brain chooses to process?
    Neurons firing.
Sending impluses that drive a man.
For reasons unknown, for a reason that has been kept from man.
Yes we understand chemicaly why it happens, but why not for Jonas?
    Why must he be ridiclued.
So he will be forced to suffer. Why?
A loss of some chemical that could have stimulated his brain.

    Maybe he, world's greatest poet,
    Never had a chance.
