    Amie Truelove
    14 Mar 2003

I saw him again last Sunday,
The moment I'd been dreading for weeks,
There was no earthquake, no flood,
Just two people, a shelf, and some leeks.

For a minute I forgot our history,
The heartbreak, the sorrow, the pain,
With a bag of onions and a handful of sprouts,
    I felt myself dreaming again.

    My mind wandered to memories,
    Moments drowning in you,
But the illusion is shattered; I'm back in this world
As I join the "10 items" queue.

    Who is this illiterate person?
A basket of 20 or more,
I don't have to look, I already know,
You're just as selfish as before.
