eyes open, awake in bed i lay,
somehow sleep eludes me,
i look at the stars in the sky
and your face i see.
the radio i turn on, and
what do i hear
no music, no deejay
but your voice so clear
i light a cigarette and play
with the smoke, rings of white
and in each ring, i beg to stay
but away from me they choose to fade
and then suddenly i get caught
the sandman comes and i drift away
the tinkling sound, a lovely laugh
awake once more, your image doesn't sway
and when finally exhaustion sets
no dreamless sleep can i escape
dreams of you my memory keeps
and when i awake was like i never slept
the morning sun shines bright and light
and shadows cast upon my side
you i thought i saw, pass in flight
a morning angel to bless my daily fight
the day drags by, seconds like hours
my time stands still, for you i wait
the air i breathe just like flour
and then you call! my life forfeit
because with you, i lose my senses
all i can see is your sparlking gaze,
your beautiful smile
all i can hear is your bubbling laughter,
your gentle call
i feel no fear with you around
as all i feel is you around...
