(Medieval Cambrian soldiers song)
I sat alone in a darkened inn
With the coin of Dieu et mon droit
Surrounded by the haughty
Just asking for a fight
I left the place at midnight
To my ship in the port
To travel to the ancien regime
Where a battle would be fought
Dreaming on the ship
My thoughts in extremis
Only to be revived
By visions of sweet Venus
A fortnight later i lay dying
In Crecy, battered and burned
A Welshman recalling his achievements
And everything he had learned.
